New Artwork

Hope this day is finding all of you lovely people well, I am very excited to show you my new artwork. Inspired by the ikat fabric that I adore (who doesn't), it reminds me of my trip to India last year (but that is another post).

I have been tinkering around with this for a while and originally started with a pattern that was quite ornate (I love over the top) but as I played, I started removing bits & pieces until it became the simple pattern you see here. In this case I decided simple is better.

This artwork can be customised to the colour scheme of your choice. Here are some examples to give you an idea.

And if you have a huge wall you can put 2 together like this.

They come in canvas sizes 20x26cm - 76x101cm and will be available on my website & etsy store in the next couple of days.

Would love to know your thoughts, enjoy the remains of the day.

Sports carnival

I spent this morning at my daughters' school sports carnival, it was the Kindy to Year 2 carnival held on the school grounds. They each get one running race then go off to different sports activities in their classes, it's quite tame really, but they love it.

I thought I would share with you my youngest daughter Ava's first running race (she is the one that comes last). She has a grin on her face the whole time...and was so proud of herself.

Way to go Ava!!

I have to say I love being able to go these events, it makes my day to see my kids having a blast at school.

Enjoy your Monday.

Should it stay or should it go?

I need your votes my friends...should this art work be added to the Urban Road collection or should it go?

It is quite different to what I normally do, and maybe that is why I am unsure. I wanted to create something with an Australian flavour and an earthy bush feel, but I'm not sure if this is the one.

So please cast your vote on my side bar...do you "Love it" are you "Not sure" or should I "Try something else" (that's the nice way of saying "get rid of it").

Please be honest, you won't hurt my feelings :) any comments or suggestions are also welcome!

Thanks for your input, I don't know how I would have decided before starting this blog!

New & improved online shop

I don't know if any of you have built a website with Wix, (a very simple Flash website builder). If you are in the market for a website you can build and host with them for free...pretty cool, there are upgrades of course.

Anyway, they have finally improved their eCommerce tools and I now have the shop I have been hoping for, I have been working on it over the last few days. This is a very exciting change for me :)

My new online store

No longer do I have 4 separate listings for an artwork in each canvas size...now I have one listing and size options to select PLUS additional photos (this wasn't available before) cool huh.

Hop on over and take a look if this sort of thing interests you, if not, sorry to bore you with technical details.

Have a great afternoon, now off to pick up the tiddlypeeps!

Look what I won

I am very excited to show you the prize I won from The Sydney Girl giveaway, it arrived in the mail yesterday...

The prize was, my choice from the gorgeous Lona de Anna range of prints. Anna's prints are lovely, take a look at her etsy store to see for yourself and she is having a 25% off sale at the moment.

I picked the kaos & mayham print (I'm planning on putting it in my boy's room, appropriate no?) and because she is so sweet she included an extra print AND a bag of jelly beans (that I have already eaten) thanks Anna.

This is my family room art wall that I put together about a year ago, I'm thinking the Ikat Oz print will replace something in here, or I may expand it. Need to ponder on this for a while.

Have a happy Tuesday everyone!

My Favourite Illustrators

I would like to share with you one of my most favourite illustrators Carole Wilmet. She is an illustrator and graphic designer from Belgium. I just love her pencil & ink creations, here are some of my favourites.....

Aren't they gorgeous? If you would like to see more of her fabulous work check out her website or her blog.

Hope you all had a great long weekend, we decided to do a family trip to ikea on Monday for some bits & pieces (as you do). If I mention I am going to ikea on a weekend and taking the kids, please remind me that it is NOT a good idea, unless I am prepared to leave at the crack of dawn :)

Etsy....

Have you ever popped onto your etsy store for your regular check up and noticed numbers on your your activity button (which are usually in the single digits) in the tripple digits???? This had never happened to me before, until yesterday...

I had over 100 and thought, what has happened? Did someone blog about me? Then went back through my emails and discovered my Sydney @ New Years Eve print on Etsy Finds....

Thanks Etsy...very exciting to be in the etsy finds shopping guide email!

Coveting my neighbour

This house is about 500m up the road from me (and is no indication of what my house looks like BTW), I go past it all the time and drool, it is probably one of the few houses in the area I actually covet. And when I saw that it is up for sale, well I couldn't resist sharing it with all of you who appreciate fabulous design.

So if you have a lazy $3.3 million.....

Way out of my league, but nothing wrong with appreciating beauty right? Images from here.

My Favourite Illustrators

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, ours was very busy, but lots of fun!

I was looking through my inspirations folder on Saturday night and came across some fabulous images which inspired me to start a "My favourite illustrators" blog segment.

I thought we could step back in time for the first one. The feature illustrator today is Bernie Fuchs, Bernie started illustrating in the 1950's and is a very famous American artist noted as the Illustrator that gave the 1950's and 60's ads a look and attitude all of their own...here are some of my favourites.

This last one is my absolute favourite, I have a print of this one on my lounge room wall. Is it so gorgeously romantic.....aahhh!

And all done by hand, makes me feel pretty inadequate really, but something to aspire to :)
